Valentine’s Day Dog Stories of Love

Happy Valentine’s Day, dog parents! To celebrate this holiday with our loving companions in mind, here are some ways that dog Valentines played a role in their humans’ love stories, as told by Nylabone’s amazing Facebook community of dedicated dog parents:

WALKIES DOWN THE AISLE

Jenny Bluth: “We adopted our second dog, Keisha Roo, when we moved in together. We adopted number three, Stevie, this spring and got engaged in the fall. All three dogs are going to be in our wedding as our ‘Dogs of Honor.’”

LOVE AT FIRST BARK

Melissa Dunham: “After being aired on the adoption segment of a local news channel in September of 2014, I rushed to the Humane Society to meet this little beauty! Our eyes locked and the rest is history. It was a perfect match! I’m thankful every day to have been blessed with such a beautiful, loyal, amazing companion.”

BIG BROTHER BUBBA

Lyn West: “We met at work, started dating, moved in together, and then brought home our Frenchie, Bubba, and raised him together. Now we’re engaged, and Bubba is going to be a big brother to a little sister—we are expecting on April 14th. Our lives just keep getting happier one day at a time. I love my family and I’m so happy to have them.”

DOG-APPROVED DATES ONLY

Dustie Marie Staten: “My Gabriel helped me find my husband. Within the first few dates, Gabriel would decide if I stayed with the guy or not. He would get between the guy and me and growl if they tried to touch me. With my husband, on the other hand, he got between us on the couch and he simply laid down and snuggled. My husband and I have been together 8.5 years. Our Gabriel passed from cancer 1 year and 3 months ago.”

LOVE THE PUP YOU’RE WITH

Taylor Smith: I love my dogs more than I love my husband, so that’s my story! (Just kidding…kind of!)

MARRIED…WITH FUR CHILDREN

Katie Payne: “It was four weeks until the wedding when we happened to come across a dog’s picture online. We had not even been planning on getting a dog. The shelter kept him six more weeks for us so we could get married and settle in first. We visited him a few times a week and finally brought him home. We are all very happy four years later.”

DOG PARK DESTINY

Michele Kraus Baron: “I met my husband at Desert Breeze Dog Park in Las Vegas. He had three Great Danes and I had my Norton. This was in 2001. We married in 2002 and Norton was with us until he passed in 2013. Forever grateful to Norton for finding the love of my life.”
